Matei Purice

Matei is counsel in the international arbitration group of Freshfields in Paris and heads the firm’s Global Projects Disputes Practice in Continental Europe.
He focuses his practice on resolving disputes arising out of global projects, including infrastructure, energy, industrial and urban development projects. This includes both contractual matters and disputes based on international investment protection treaties.
Matei has particular expertise in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East where he has spent a decade working with Freshfields in Dubai before relocating back to Paris.
He has acted as counsel in matters under a variety of arbitration rules with seats across Europe and the Middle East.
He also regularly sits as arbitrator in construction matters.
Since 2014, Matei has lectured at the International Arbitration LLM at the Faculty of Law of the Bucharest University (Romania) where he is responsible for the construction arbitration module.
