Yasemin Çetinel

Yasemin Cetinel is the founding partner of Cetinel Law Firm, in Istanbul specialized in international construction law, international investment and commercial arbitration, with a specific focus on construction disputes. She is a candidate QS (MSc Degree for Quantity Surveying, Heriot-Watt University) and holds a postgraduate degree in international commercial arbitration from the Queen Mary and West field College, University of London. She represents and advise contractors of various nationalities in projects or cases in Eastern Europe, Middle East, Turkic Countries, Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America.
She has extensive experience on FIDIC/ICE based contracts, EPC contracts, ad-hoc construction contracts with Turkish, Middle Eastern, European and African contractors and state entities; as well as on dispute board proceedings in construction contracts. She has also been involved in numerous ICSID arbitrations arising out of construction projects, including cases against the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Georgia and the Republic of Turkmenistan.
She contributed to International Construction Law, Second Edition, edited by Lukas Klee. She is the author of the Turkish chapter in Compendium Project funded by Society of Construction Law Australia and supported by Melbourne University. She also contributed with “Enforceability Issues of Dispute Boards: Considerations for an Efficient Practice in Turkey” to the Construction Arbitration in Central and Eastern Europe: Contemporary Issues by Kluwer Law International, edited by Dr. Crina Baltag and Cosmin Vasile.
Ms. Cetinel serves as Dispute Resolution Board Foundation Region 2 Board member and founding member of Society of Construction Law Turkey Chapter. She knows Turkish (native), English, French (professional) and Greek (non-professional).
